Dubai Creek is a saltwater creek that historically divided Dubai into two separate parts. It was historically used as a way to move and trade products, and this is still done now on a much smaller scale. Our day at the creek started with a boat ride down the creek. It was a great to see city and see the meeting of old and new ways of living in Dubai. During our day at the creek we were able to visit Souks on both sides of the creek. Taking the water taxi across really made me feel like a local. A Souk is like a market but in Dubai they are divided by the products they sell. We visited the Gold Souk, Spice Souk and the Textile Souk. The Souks were not a busy because it was Friday and is was still very interesting to have this authentic experience. The weekend in Dubai is Friday and Saturday since it is a congregational day of prayer at the Mosques.
