Beach Bound with the Kids

Dec. 12 2011

It was decided by the group of volunteers that was at the orphanage in December that we would take all of the kids at the orphanage to the beach. There were 3 volunteers and Mamma Sara and 35 kids, it was definitely a crazy trip. There is a beach called Kokabtite that is about 1.5 hours away from the orphanage. We went by tro-tro, meaning that it was a tight fit to put that many people in one tro-tro. Either was it was exciting since most of the kids rarely leave the orphanage and had never been to a beach. Seeing their facing was something I will never forget. We had anything from the kids who was terrified to ones that refused to get out of the water. None of the children were very good swimmers so all of us were on edge the entire time, but they loved it.  I know there are a million pictures, but it was so hard to choose.

Beach here we come!
